It looks like inflation and rising costs will be hitting Verrado residents a little more in 2023 as increased HOA assessments were approved at the VCA Board meeting held on Nov 9. There were less than 2 dozen residents that attended the board meeting–out of over 16,000 residents! We need to do a better job of getting involved with our community by attending these quarterly board meetings held at The Center on Main.
No, these are not fun events, like so many of the events that are held throughout the community. But these are important events for Verrado homeowners to attend. There is time allotted for residents to ask questions and voice their concerns. The VCA Board is comprised of 5 members, 3 from DMB (called ‘founders”) and 2 volunteer resident members as voted on annually by homeowners.
At times our resident directors raised important issues for board consideration and could have used more support from residents on key issues when it came time for board votes. Dan Kelly, of DMB, chairs the meetings and he does an excellent job conducting it and keeping things professional. VerradoWay will publish the dates of these quarterly meetings so you can mark them on your calendar to attend.
The board has approved the following increases in our HOA fees for 2023:
- 2023 VCA Monthly Assessment increases by $3 to $118/mo
- 2023 Frank Residential Monthly Assessment increases by $15 to $115/mo.
- 2023 Marketside Monthly Assessment increases by $4 to $28/mo
- 2023 Highlands Monthly Assessments NO increase and remains $30/mo.
- 2023 Porchlight Monthly Assessment increases by $2 to $78/mo
For the most part, the Board touted the relatively low increases compared to other Phoenix communities whose annual HOA fees increased by 10%, where as most, but not all, Verrado assessments stayed in the low single digits. The exception is the Main Street District’s Frank Residential row houses on Main St and Sunrise Ln, whose rates are going up a whopping 18% next year! Just another reason why residents should attend theses important board meetings.
