Just in the nick of time with VHS students returning to school, ADOT has finished their initial phase of widening Indian School Rd between Sunrise Ln and Jackrabbit Tr. Perhaps it’s still not yet pretty, but it is functional and hopefully will help relieve the massive early morning and late afternoon traffic jams. Also just in time to usher in the September openings of some of the new stores at the SE corner of Jackrabbit and Indian School Rd.
Now that paving is complete, the dedicated left turn lanes at Pioneer Drive and 197th Avenue will remain in place, however, traffic will still still be restricted at times with barricades until gutters, sidewalks, landscaping, streetlights and other road improvements are complete later this year.
Project completion is targeted for the end of the year when Indian School will have two through lanes in each direction, landscaped medians and dedicated left and right turn lanes by Verrado High School and the shopping center. In addition, new westbound left turn lanes will be added at Park Street and Acacia Way.
