Verrado’s 17th Founder’s Day Weekend Celebration will be held on March 23 and March 24. If you are new to Verrado, this is THE EVENT OF THE YEAR with multiple activities highlighted by the Founders Day Concert. This year’s headliner is the iconic disco group Kool & The Gang. This year it’s time to boogie on down to Verrado’s Village Green on Main St to dance your a– off with the iconic Kool & The Gang. If disco is/was your thing, then you’ll have a blast this year. So, put on your dancing shows and disco on down to dance the night away when they take the stage on Saturday, March 23!
Kool & the Gang, officially launched in 1969, after performing for five years under various band titles, has influenced the music of three generations and, at the age of 49, the band has become true recording industry legends. Thanks to iconic songs like Celebration, Cherish, Jungle Boogie, Summer Madness and Open Sesame, they’ve earned two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, 25 Top Ten R&B hits, nine Top Ten Pop hits and 31 gold and platinum albums.
Opening act is The Black Hole, an explosive, local blues rock band hailing from Phoenix, AZ. Known for their showmanship, the band has won the hearts of fans of all ages worldwide. Blues Break Magazine notes that the band is encompassed by “a rhythm section so dense and tight that they form a black hole of sound from which light can not escape.”
Concert schedule:
- 5 – 9:30 p.m. | Beer, seltzer, mixed drinks & food available for purchase from West Valley Mavericks
- 6 – 6:30 p.m. | 80’s dress up contest
- 7:15 – 8:10 p.m. |The Black Hole
- 8:30 – 9:45 p.m. |Kool & the Gang
There won’t be children’s activities at the concert, but there will be the following day at the Community Picnic (picnic info below).

Kool & the Gang @ Founder’s Day Verrado 2024
- Wristband Registration Deadline is March 17, 2024 — no exceptions.
- Each Verrado household may reserve up to 4 concert wristbands.
- Duplicate requests will not be honored and will be cancelled.
- Wristbands required 3 years and older.
- Verrado residents only.
- Wristband pick-up dates will be the following:
- Monday, March 18: 3 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Tuesday, March 19 – Friday, March 22: 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.
You can also pick wristbands up the day of the concert (March 23) at the at the northeast concert entrance (The Center on Main parking lot/West Sentinel Drive). - Be prepared to wait in line if you choose this pick-up option.

Editor’s Note: I first saw Kool & The Gang perform in 1971 in a small church in Ft Lauderdale, FL. They were great then and only became better thorough all these years. Very cool of our Co-Here gang to bring Kool & the Gang to Main St!
